South By Southwest is an annual conference and conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music that takes place every March in Austin, TX. Since 1987, SXSW has been a destination for discovery that fosters creative and professional growth.

This year we had the opportunity to be part of this diverse and collaborative community that is SXSW. Allowing us to join sessions, exhibitions, workshops, and a variety of networking opportunities.

Since day 1 at SXSW, we had a blast at the Austin Convention Center and all over town.

Here’s how everything started for us:

Our SXSW experience began the night before day one with a kickoff party hosted by the ATC (Austin Technology Council). It was a great night of mentoring and networking with the who’s who of Austin’s tech scene.

On the other hand, day one for Applaudo was about meeting customers (before SXSW wore them out) and seeing the exhibits we really wanted to see. The crowds are the worst on day one but we thrived by dividing and conquering.

But, the official SXSW adventure started with our first, interactive track: the Coding and Development Track.

From designing APIs to prototyping voice-activated interfaces, the Coding & Development Track takes a deep dive into technological advancements for coders, developers, and engineers.

This year’s highlight for the Coding and Development sessions is their workshop format, allowing attendees to have a truly interactive and educational experience.

We finished the day by attending the “Super Connectors Meet Up” and the Casa Mexico Consul events. By the end, our feet, mouths, and ears were tired from all we had accomplished on day one.
